License
What you're buying. A single-user licence to one digital copy. Yours to keep, read on any device you own, and print for your own use.
What it isn't. Not a licence to redistribute, resell, share, upload, or use as training data for a machine-learning model. Every purchase is recorded against the buyer's name and order number.
Team use. Buying for more than one person? Email hello@ignatiustheyoungerai.com and we'll sort a team licence — it's cheaper than you think and it keeps everyone clean.
Your company just went "AI-first." Here's what they're not telling you about the people they're keeping.
The 24 documented failures in AI that prove why you're still necessary — and the 90-day plan to prove it to everyone else.

The central insight
Every AI deployment contains an unpriced human verification and accountability layer.
Your organization measures the speed it gains from AI. It does not measure the cost of the errors that get through. One side of that ledger has a dashboard; the other has a hunch — and when only one side is measured, the unmeasured side loses every budget argument it enters.
That's a mispricing. This book teaches you to price it.
"At every step down this chain, authority decreases and exposure increases. The person with the least ability to change the system carries the most consequence for its errors."
What's inside — five parts
- Part I — The Real Bargain of "AI-First" Work. What organizations mean and don't mean by AI-first, how risk transfers from vendor to executive to manager to you, and a Career Exposure Audit for your own role.
- Part II — The Failure Mode Field Guide. All 24 modes. For each: the mechanism, where it shows up in real work, who carries the downside, the modeled financial exposure, the human control that catches it, and the Judgment Multiple.
- Part III — Become the Control Layer. Six controls — the Context Brief, the Verification Chain, the Automation Boundary, Exposure Economics, Ownership and the Paper Trail, and the Control Layer as a Career — each mapped to the modes it catches.
- Part IV — The 90-Day Proof Plan. Thirteen weeks, phase by phase, with a checkpoint at day 30, 60 and 90. Includes three manager pathways — receptive, neutral, and defensive, which is the one most readers need.
- Part V — The Operator Toolkit. Eleven tools. Two printed in full — the AI Error Log and the Pre-Ship Verification Checklist — each with a worked example and a failure list.
The Judgment Multiple
The Judgment Multiple (IgnatiusTheYoungerAI, 2026) = annualized exposure ÷ annualized cost of the human control.
An original framework introduced in this book. It reframes verification from overhead into the highest-return line in a workflow, and states it in the language finance already uses. The book works the ratio for all 24 modes, shows every assumption, and includes the one mode where the ratio comes out under 1 — because a book that only shows big ratios is selling something.
Evidence discipline
Every empirical claim carries a status label: RESEARCH, REPORTED, ANALYSIS, MODELED, or RECOMMENDATION. Where the author is reasoning rather than citing, it says so — including for the book's central thesis. 35 sources: peer-reviewed research, named legal cases (Mata v. Avianca; Moffatt v. Air Canada), a disclosed CVE, and current regulation with a verify-before-relying date on it.
A book that argues you should verify claims before acting on them has no standing to make unverified ones. Every source was checked twice before the first copy was sold — the record is public at ignatiustheyoungerai.com/verification. Your copy is byte-identical to the published master: hash it and check.
Who this is not for
Anyone looking for reassurance, prompt tricks, or a list of tools. This is a book about building a documented record at work. It requires doing something for ninety days.
FAQ
Is this anti-AI? No. AI is useful precisely because people can supervise, contextualize, verify, and own its consequences. The argument is that the accountability layer is where the remaining economic value concentrates.
Do I need to be technical? No. The mechanisms are explained in plain terms and the arithmetic is multiplication. If you can build a budget, you can run a Judgment Multiple.
Are the dollar figures real? They are modeled, labeled as modeled, and shown with their assumptions. None are presented as measured outcomes from a specific company. You are meant to change the inputs and run your own.
What do I actually get? A 206-page PDF, delivered instantly to your checkout email. Two of the eleven toolkit templates — the AI Error Log and the Pre-Ship Verification Checklist — are printed in full inside the book, each with a worked example.
What's the difference between the book and the Operator Toolkit add-on? The book teaches the full system and prints two of the eleven tools in full — enough to start your baseline the same day. The Operator Toolkit gives you all eleven as fillable, editable files plus a live Judgment Multiple calculator, for running the system at work rather than on paper.
You already know the headlines. This is what to actually do about it.
